Dr. Randall Travis Hogland, Retired Registered Nurse at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health and wellness.
As a teenager, Dr. Hogland spent his weekends and summer vacations within the anatomy laboratory of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Assisting medical students, he was taught extensively about the human body, and later shadowed medical students and professors who were conducting their clinical rounds. Fascinated by the human body and medicine, Dr. Hogland attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, achieving a doctorate. There, he was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa and was honored on the National Dean’s List. He then went on to spend more than 20 years at the university hospital in various capacities, including within the oncology, cardiology, medical-surgical, emergency room and intensive care units. Additionally, he lent his expertise in academia as a frequent educator.
Affiliated with the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine and the National Association of Physician Nurses, Dr. Hogland remembers fondly the challenges physicians and nurses faced on a daily basis as they aided patients in their battle against complex illnesses and helped them toward recovery. He most enjoys sitting one-on-one with patients within his community, providing them both medical and spiritual guidance. Revered by colleagues and patients alike, Dr. Hogland earned the Silent Angel Award for his contributions to medicine. Born in Alabama, he currently resides in Texas City, Texas.
