Linda Lea Streiff Bleeker, MSN, RN, Registered Nurse at Sanford Health Ava’s Hospice House, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in hospice and travel care.

Having accrued years of professional experience in the field of nursing, Ms. Streiff Bleeker currently serves as a registered nurse at Sanford Health Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Excelling in her caretaking role since 2019, Ava’s Hospice House seeks to improve the quality of life for terminally ill patients and focuses on palliative medicine to relieve pain and maximize their patients’ comfort. She began her career as a nursing assistant, and after discovering her knack and passion for the profession, she chose to fully pursue a future as a registered nurse. In 2009, she acquired her license and has since distinguished herself as a successful travel nurse, having worked in Nome, Alaska for three years and Juneau, Alaska for three months. In her travel nursing role, Ms. Streiff Bleeker has also worked throughout parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Arizona, Iowa, California and Minnesota.

Ms. Streiff Bleeker received an Associate of Science from the Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota in 2009. She later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2011 and a Master of Science in Nursing in diabetes education from Capella University in 2019. Upon choosing her nursing specialty, she turned to the guidance of her father who she describes as her “cheerleader.” Her father notably served in the military, which led to frequent travel and opportunity to explore various parts of the country, as well as the world. From this unconventional upbringing, she discovered a strong connection to traveling, and she decided that travel nursing would be the best fit for her desired lifestyle. Evidently, Ms. Streiff Bleeker attributes much of her career’s success to her father and his influence.

In addition to her hospice career, Ms. Streiff Bleeker is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Diabetes Nurse Educators Association, South Dakota Diabetes Nurse Educators, South Dakota Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association and Iowa Association of Nurses. Looking ahead in her career, she plans to continue working in hospice care. Although hospice care can be a difficult and challenging position, she enjoys working with the patients and families to keep the patient comfortable on their end of life journey. She also envisions herself teaching and helping new nursing students detect diabetes early on in a patient so that complications can be avoided. In her free time, Ms. Streiff Bleeker enjoys reading, hiking and indoor and outdoor gardening, as well as spending time with her four children, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
