Seleste L. Lurye Wallace, Retired Medical and Surgical Nurse at the New York State Department of Corrections, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements and leadership in rehabilitation.
After being involved in a car accident as a teen, Ms. Wallace was inspired by the nurses who assisted her at the hospital. Soon thereafter, she received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Corning Community College in New York during 1972. Moreover, she became a registered nurse in the State of New York and began her career as a nurse for the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. She further progressed to Syosset Hospital before joining the Parkview Nursing Home in Massapequa, New York.
Ms. Wallace would go on to excel as a staff clinical nurse for the St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York, later assuming employment with the New York State Department of Corrections as a registered nurse. Furthermore, she retired from the position in 2017. In a career filled with several highlights, she was proud to have serviced many patients included an elderly woman who suffered a stroke and a young man who was paralyzed from the neck down. For his accomplishments in the field, Ms. Wallace has been featured in the fourth edition of Who’s Who in American Nursing.
