Mary Mandelkorn, Consultant at Robert M. Mandelkorn, MD, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing.

Prior to the start of her career, Ms. Mandelkorn attended the University of Michigan and completed coursework in pre-med, between 1968 and 1970. Four years later, she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing with distinction from Wayne State University. Furthermore, she completed her studies with postgraduate coursework in nursing from the aforementioned institution in 1985. A registered nurse in the states of California, Hawaii, Michigan, Florida, and Texas, Ms. Mandelkorn is also a certified American Board transplant coordinator and eye bank technician with the Eye Bank Association of America.

At the start of her career, Ms. Mandelkorn served as vice president of the Michigan Eye Bank from 1987 to 1990, before becoming the executive director of the Sierra Regional Eye Tissue Bank in Sacramento, California, from 1990 to 1995. Soon thereafter, she assumed employment with the Baylor College of Medicine as the executive director for five years, concurrently serving as the instructor for the Department of Ophthalmology until 2000. For two years, she contributed as a consultant for the Eye Bank Association in Fort Myers and since 2009, has worked as an office manager with her husband’s private practice.

In a career filled with several highlights, she is proud to have been involved in teaching courses at the Global Eye Banking programs in Pakistan, India, Africa and Japan. She has also authored articles and book chapters and has conducted extensive research in cornea and tissue transplant. For her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Mandelkorn has been the recipient of the Leonard Heise Award from the Eye Bank Association and the Outstanding Performance Award from the University of California, Davis.
