Katherine E. Crawford, RN, pediatrics and neonatal nurse, nursing educator and case manager, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care and nursing.

As an accomplished nurse with years of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Crawford chose her field because it was her lifelong passion. As a child, she wanted to follow ambulances, and she always loved children and babies. She even remembers wanting her mother to open an orphanage so she could be around children more often. Ms. Crawford received a scholarship to attend the Charity Nursing Hospital School in New Orleans, receiving a diploma in 1966, and continued her education at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1968. She concluded her studies at Northwestern in 1975, graduating with a Master of Science in Nursing, and became a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Louisiana. In addition to her primary certifications, she is also a notary in Caddo Parish, Louisiana.

Ms. Crawford began her career as an instructor at the Northwestern State University College of Nursing, subsequently serving as a neonatal coordinator and a clinical instructor at the Schumpert Medical Center. She continued to work at the center for the remainder of her career, contributing her expertise as a neonatal intensive care unit nurse and pediatric case manager until her retirement in 2011. In addition to her primary pursuits, Ms. Crawford served as a presenter to various professional conferences, and maintains memberships to the Nurses Association of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi. Ms. Crawford considers the highlight of her career to have been taking care of children and helping them get well when they are sick. As a further testament to her success and experience, she has been featured in the fourth and fifth editions of Who’s Who in American Nursing.
