Anna Swan, Nurse with Albuquerque Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

With nearly 35 years of professional experience, Ms. Swan has been a nurse with Albuquerque Public Schools since 2016. Prior to obtaining her current role, she was a research nurse with the University of New Mexico’s department of psychiatry’s study on panic disorders, having been a school nurse with Los Lunas, New Mexico, Public Schools. She previously worked with Life’s Masters, and she was a clinical instructor with Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute from 1993 to 1996. Earlier in her career, she was a nurse with Presbyterian Hospital, Heights Psychiatric Hospital, and Children’s Psychiatric Hospital.

Ms. Swan first pursued an education with the University of New Mexico, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1985. She is a member of the National School Nurses Association and the Albuquerque Public School Nurse Leadership Committee and Council. In addition to her primary roles, she has previously served as a public health nurse and director of the health Unit clerk program at Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute and she was on the nursing practice advisory committee for the New Mexico Board of Nursing. For two years, she was also on the board of directors for the Albuquerque Catholic Charismatic Center.

Ms. Swan initially pursued a career in the field by a desire to help people. She originally intended to become an attorney, but she found that she had a knack for healthcare. She came under the tutelage of her mentor, Helen Hamilton, who helped further her education and aspirations. She credits much of her success to her religious beliefs as well as to the kindness of those she has worked with along the way.

Throughout her career, Ms. Swan has been recognized for her contributions, including having been named the 1985 Breakthrough to Nursing Award for Minority Students. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Nursing, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who of American Women.
