Mr. Li came to the United States in 1990 from Hong Kong, China. During his first few years in the country, he had to work as a janitor to support himself through school prior to becoming a registered nurse. He earned a nursing degree in 1994 from Rio Hondo College in California, and later, a Bachelor of Science in business management from the University of Phoenix. He has been a registered nurse for over 20 years.
Throughout Mr. Li’s career as a nurse, he became inspired to begin a nonprofit organization to help recovering individuals become more independent. He has seen many low-income individuals be released from the hospital with nowhere to go to continue their recovery. This was upsetting for him to see, as people need good nutrition, access to therapy, and occasionally, assistant devices to complete a full recovery from injury or illness. Mr. Li’s desire to help drove his decision to become the chief executive officer and president of C.A.R.I.T.A.S Care. He additionally works as an administrator at Nightingale Home Care Incorporated.
Mr. Li’s business is listed among the Top 100 Places to Work in San Diego, California, which is a rewarding honor. In the future, he plans to continue his work at a higher capacity. He attributes his success to his parents and the education they were able to give him. Because of that education, Mr. Li can focus all of his energy on every patient with whom he works. His patients are his top priority. In his years working, Mr. Li has positively affected the lives of many of his patients. He looks forward to helping many more individuals in the coming years.
