Lorenda Byrd, Retired Chief Nursing Officer at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare.
With more than 45 years of professional experience, Ms. Byrd was a chief nursing officer with Jefferson Memorial Hospital from 2001 to 2008, having held the same position with Three Rivers Healthcare since 2000 and Lucy Lee Healthcare Systems since 1998. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was vice president of patient service with St. Joseph Hospital from 1996 to 1997, having been director of nursing since 1991, and she was the associate director of patent service at Alexian Brothers Hospital from 1988 to 1991. She holds a Master of Science in nursing from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from McKendree College.
From 1986 to 1987, Ms. Byrd served as a marketer with International Clinical Laboratories, and from 1980 to 1986 she was a nurse manager with the medical-surgical and oncology departments at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was previously an emergency room head nurse with Bellville Memorial Hospital from 1976 to 1980 and on the faculty of Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing from 1965 to 1976. Earlier in her career, she leveraged her skills and expertise as a staff nurse with Charleston Community hospital from 1965 to 1965. In addition to being a Registered Nurse in the states of Illinois and Missouri, she is a certified nursing administrator with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
