Debora Swisher, OSF RN Complex Care Manager for the OSF Western Region, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the nursing profession.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Swisher attended Carl Sandburg College, graduating with an AAS in 1980, and continued her academic pursuits at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she earned a BSN in 1990. From 1980 to 1994, she garnered experience as a staff nurse in pediatrics at the St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois, and subsequently held the post of a staff nurse in home health until 1998. Continuing her work with the medical center, Ms. Swisher worked as an operational support nurse until 2000, additionally holding roles in performance improvement, as an educational coordinator and a home health aide supervisor until 2004.
Ms. Swisher continued her career as a professional nurse, working as a home health nurse and case manager for several years, and in 2006, she accepted a position as a staff nurse in the medical-surgical and pediatric/oncology units, where she remained for nearly a decade. Since 2015, she has served the Order of Saint Francis (OSF) Western Region as an OSF RN Complex Care Manager. In addition to her primary pursuits, Ms. Swisher holds numerous professional certifications, including being a certified PALS provider of the American Heart Association (AHA) for more than a decade and a certified BLS provider of the AHA for nearly 30 years. In addition, she has been board certified in case management since 2018.
In addition to her primary professional pursuits, Ms. Swisher has maintained affiliation to numerous organizations. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the University of Illinois Nursing Alumni Association, Sigma Theta Tau and Sigma Theta Psi International, among many others. Ms. Swisher has also been recognized for her excellence and service with numerous awards and recognitions, including the Simply the Best Award from OSF Home Health and the Daisy Award as a staff nurse at the St. Mary Medical Center in 2015.
