Alexandra Dylong, Retired Nurse at Monmouth Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the nursing profession.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in health science and education from the Jersey City State College and becoming a registered nurse, Ms. Dylong began her career at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey. She worked at the hospital for more than a decade, from 1968 to 1979, and transitioned to the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. Following 24 years of service to the hospital and its patients, Ms. Dylong retired in 2003. Throughout her career as both a registered and CNOR certified professional nurse, she loved her job and looked forward to working each and every day, and was recognized for her contributions with an Excellence in Education Award.
Ms. Dylong believes that she was born to help others—her first name, “Alexandra,” translates to “helper of mankind.” Growing up, her father was initially opposed to her becoming a nurse, but she persevered and pursued her passion nonetheless. She would like to be remembered by her peers as an intelligent and helpful co-worker, who knew what she was doing and showed them the ropes. Ms. Dylong is the proud mother of three wonderful children, Michael, Meeghan and Mathew, as well as a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren. She has seen how the profession has changed since her start in the field, and notes that presently, becoming a registered nurse is often a stepping stone to becoming a nurse practitioner.
