Ms. De Fillippis entered her profession because when she was young she had a concern for other people as well as a strong desire to help others. She earned an Associate of Applied Science from Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, New Jersey, in 1982 and holds RN, LPN, critical care, intravenous therapy, and coronary care certification. She attended the college as a practical nurse as part of an offered course where she completed two years of college in 10 and a half months and has since encouraged other women to return to school. In addition to her education and certifications, Ms. De Fillippis considers her calm disposition to have been an asset to her career as her kindness has contributed to her patients’ recoveries.
Presently, Ms. De Fillippis works as a staff nurse for Chubb Insurance Company in Warren, New Jersey. She has been a staff nurse for the Morristown Memorial Hospital and for the Somerset Medical Center, both in New Jersey. Previously, she has been a staff nurse for a physician’s office in Chatham, New Jersey, and has been a consumer information specialist for Ortho Pharmaceutical Company in Raritan, New Jersey. Due to her nursing experience, Ms. De Fillippis has been featured in the fourth edition of Who’s Who in American Nursing. She has enjoyed her identity as Nurse Carol and has been grateful for her personal life in addition to her professional endeavors. She was with her husband Edmund J. De Filippis for 65 years and married him when she was 19 years old. They share their children Edmund, Robert, Dorothy, and Carolyn and have five grandchildren, Andrew De Filippis, Julia Bartlett, Alyson DaCota, Matthew DeCota, Olivia Marques, and two great grandchildren, Charles Barlett, and William Barlett.
