Sue McGee, Retired Pediatrics Nurse, Educator, and Administrator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership as a professional nurse.
Ms. McGee earned a diploma from Shannon Memorial Hospital and started as a staff nurse of pediatrics for the Newborn Nursery at High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. She studied at West Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1977, and took a position as an instructor of pediatrics at Amarillo College, where she remained until 1982. She completed postgraduate coursework at Texas Tech University and began serving as a missionary for the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in Mauritius. Ms. McGee returned to the United States as a staff educator of pediatrics for Northwest Texas Hospital in 1987, and as director of the Nursing Resource Center at Amarillo College. In 1994, she rose to the rank of division chairman of nursing at the college, and in 2004, she began working as a consultant at Garland County Community College.
Since 2005, Ms. McGee has been retired, serving as a member of the Hospital Accreditation Review Committee for the Texas General Baptist Convention, and in 2018 she began as a secretary for the G. A. C. Conference of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 1992, she received a grant from the Helene Fuld College of Nursing, and over the course of her career, she has maintained memberships to many professional organizations. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Texas Junior College Teachers Association, the Harrington Supportive Care Consortium, the American Association of University Women, and the Texas Council of Nursing Deans and Directors. As a testament to her success, experience, and stature, Ms. McGee has been featured in the sixth edition of Who’s Who in American Education.
