Esther Watson, retired Nurse at Morristown Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in surgical and critical care nursing.
Receiving early encouragement from her grandmother and great aunt, Ms. Watson decided at a young age that nursing was her calling. She began her studies at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center at Arnot Health, where she earned a Diploma in 1950. Furthermore, she completed coursework at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1984. Ms. Watson commenced her career as an operating room nursing supervisor at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital in 1950. Soon thereafter, she joined Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, as a staff nurse for the post-anesthesia care unit for 20 years, before retiring from the hospital as a surgical and critical care nurse in 1994. In addition to primary endeavor, she also contributed as a staff nurse and part-time night supervisor in Morristown, New Jersey, from 1964 to 1974.
In a career with many achievements to her credit, Ms. Watson was gratified to have to been selected to name the library at the National Office for the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses in 2018. She was also recognized as a legacy by the organization in the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing in 2018. As a testament to her success, Ms. Watson was highlighted in several Who’s Who publications. Listed in the third edition of Who’s Who Among Human Service Professionals, she was further featured in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Nursing, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who of American Women.
