Sandra Carrier, BSN, RN, COHN-S/CM, ABDA, FAAOHN, President of Workforce Management Solutions, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing.
With more than four decades of professional experience, Ms. Carrier leveraged her skills and expertise as the president of her current endeavor since 2004. In this role, she provides written resource material of policies and procedures for a major university healthcare system and works on training employer’s workers’ compensation management, safety and health and medical management and return to work programs. Ms. Carrier is instrumental in providing information to physicians, providers and the public on research, developing integrated health and productivity programs, identifying resources and collecting medical information. She has garnered experience through various roles through the series, such as her time with Aon Corporation, Professional Health Services, Mediq, Inc. the Wausau Insurance Company and Henkel Corporation. Ms. Carrier credits much of her success to her love of challenges, problem solving skills, and the ability to listen and assess issues. She prides herself on aiding her clients in doing all of these and more.
Ms. Carrier first pursued an education with Bucks County Community College, where she completed a registered nursing degree in 1975. She continued her studies with Gwynedd Mercy University, earning a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1982. She is a nationally certified occupational health nurse specialist, environmental health specialist, and as a nursing specialist and case manager. Ms. Carrier has consistently been a registered professional nurse with PA registration since 1975. She was previously certified as a senior disability analyst and diplomat throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s. In addition to these positions, Ms. Carrier has previously served as a treasurer, foundation trustee and on as a member of the editorial review board of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses. She was president of the PA Association of Occupational Health Nurses from 1993 to 1996 and has been involved with Management Development and Situational Leadership and Nazareth Hospital in the past.
Ms. Carrier was inspired to pursue a career in the field from an early age. She has always had a desire to help people and considered it a good way to do so. She was further encouraged by her father, who was tough but fair, and who was very quiet and pleasant. With this influence casting an early direction in her life, she has gone on to succeed in her endeavors and has been recognized on numerous occasions for the quality of her work. In 2000, Ms. Carrier received the Occupational Health Nurse of the Year Award. She has also received the Dorothy M. Saller Nursing Award and the Medique Leadership Award. In 2004, she was selected as a FAAOHN fellow. In addition to these accolades, Ms. Carrier’s contributions have also been printed in editorials and various publications on topics such as hypertension control, statistical analysis of exposure to Agent Orange and reproductive hazards in the workplace among many others.
