As a young girl, Ms. Marquis knew she wanted to be a nurse. With a strong work ethic, coupled by her parent’s encouragement she pursued a formal education at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, earning a diploma in 1958. Subsequently, she worked in various nursing positions between 1958 and 1960, before accepting the position of a staff nurse and a relief evening supervisor at the Franklin Hospital in Benton, Illinois, for a year. Soon thereafter, Ms. Marquis contributed as a staff nurse of labor and delivery for the United States Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, from 1963 to 1967, before becoming a staff nurse and a relief charge nurse of labor and delivery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange, California, for a year.

Moreover, she rejoined the Naval Hospital as a staff nurse of labor and delivery between 1971 and 1973. Ms. Marquis later worked at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, where she held the posts of a night staff nurse, a night charge nurse, a night supervisor, and the head nurse of labor and delivery as well as obstetrics-gynecology surgery, from 1973 to 1983. During this time, she received a Bachelor of Science from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, in 1980. She went on to work as the maternal transport nurse and later the head nurse of labor and delivery for the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center between 1984 and 1989, consequently becoming a home perinatal nurse for CareLink Corp., for a year. Furthermore, she found success with the Steward Health Choice Arizona as a coordinator for four years before contributing as a prior authorization case management manager since 1994. In addition to her primary endeavors, she served as a consultant in the field. A member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Arizona chapter of the Nursing Network, and the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Maricopa County.
