Title: Nurse Midwife (Retired)
Location: Concord, New Hampshire, United States
Carol Ann Kozikowski, Nurse Midwife (Retired), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of midwifery.
Compelled to care for others from an early age, Ms. Kozikowski has always wanted to be a nurse who cares for babies. She earned a BSN from Georgetown University in 1982 and later an MSN from Columbia University in 1986. During her time at Columbia University, Ms. Kozikowski was mentored by Christine Kuhlman, a midwife who ran a birth center near Concord Hospital in New Hampshire. She gave a young Ms. Kozikowski an internship opportunity and helped her achieve national nurse midwife certification. Following her certification, Ms. Kozikowski has worked as a nurse midwife for various organizations throughout New Hampshire such as the Women’s Health Care Association, the Community Action Plan in Belknap and Merrimack counties, and for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Concord.
Retired in 2008, Ms. Kozikowski is proud of her work as a nurse midwife throughout the course of her career. She considers her greatest career highlight to be traveling to places like Haiti, Kenya, and Nigeria for mission trips. The experience of meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, and serving people around the world were highly educational and fulfilling. She went as a nurse midwife by herself to each country to work in various situations. She went to Haiti multiple times and was teaching a group of students that she brought with her. The first time that she went she was just relieving midwives on the so that they could have time off and is glad to have helped bring families together as caring for others and their families is her mission.
