Vicki K. Johnson, Certified Rehabilitation Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in rehabilitation nursing.
Ms. Johnson became involved in her profession because she always wanted to help people. She earned a diploma from the Research Medical Center School of Nursing in 1981 and upon graduation served as a medical-surgical nurse for the Medical Center of Independence. She held this role until 1986 when she took her talents to The Rehabilitation Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. While with the organization, Ms. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri in 1992 as well as certification in rehabilitation nursing. She remained a nurse at to The Rehabilitation Institute until 2001 before pursuing a different path in her career.
Ms. Johnson worked as a nurse in the rehabilitation unit of Ind. Regional Hospital from 2001 to 2004. She then assumed employment with St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City in 2004 and remains at the institution. With rehabilitation nursing, Ms. Johnson is able to see how people make improvements in their health and is thrilled when people get better. She is grateful for her career and for her mentors, Caroline Denker, who was a nurse at Western Missouri Mental Health Center, and Margret Welch, who was the advanced practice registered nurse for the rehabilitation unit at St. Luke’s hospital. As a testament to her success, Ms. Johnson holds a membership with the American Nurses Association and National League for Nursing. Additionally, she has been featured in the third edition of Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals, the 54th through 57th editions of Who’s Who in America, the fourth edition of Who’s Who in American Nursing, the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest, and the 25th edition of Who’s Who of American Women.
