Location: Ramer, Tennessee, United States
Sandra T. McBride, RN, MSN, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychiatric nursing.
Mrs. McBride is a highly regarded nursing professional who is known for two very important things: having compassion for her patients and getting the job done right. In total, she has worked in the health care field for 34 years. She established herself professionally in 1985 after achieving an Associate of Arts from Shelby State Community College and an LPN in the state of Mississippi. While pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing at the University of North Alabama, she worked as a nurse supervisor for Alcorn County Care, Inc., in Corinth, MS.
During this time, Mrs. McBride developed the foundational skills that she still carries with her today. In 1987, she earned a bachelor’s degree and took on new roles in nursing. Notably, she served as a staff nurse for Bolivar Community Hospital, staff nurse for the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, and staff nurse for Western Mental Health Institute, where she continues to work today. This year, Mrs. McBride celebrates 27 years with the center. While in this role, Mrs. McBride is proud to have returned to her studies to earn a Master of Science in nursing from Union University.
Mrs. McBride spent a deal of time in doctor’s offices and hospitals as a small child due to a tendency to catch ear infections. From a young age, she knew that she wanted to be a nurse to give the kind of care to others that she received as a child. The most gratifying aspect of her career has been hearing from past patients and knowing that she was able to positively impact their experiences under her care. In the years to come, Mrs. McBride does not see herself slowing down in her career as she believes nursing to be her life’s calling. She intends to continue providing incredibly compassionate care while seeking new opportunities to give back.
