Anne Scott Stiles, Ph.D., Professor at Sam Houston State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing education.
Having been a nurse for many years in the formative stages of her career, Dr. Stiles moved into the role of educator beginning in 1994, serving as an associate professor and director of nursing research at Georgia Southern University. Holding that role for five years, she subsequently transferred to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she was an associate professor of nursing from 1999 to 2002. During this time, she also acted as a faculty member at the Kaplan Educational Center Ltd. and per diem staff nurse at Bulloch Memorial Hospital between 1995 and 1996. Soon thereafter, Texas Woman’s University employed her in 2002, where she served as a professor of nursing from 2002 to 2012. While serving in this role, she held the roles of coordinator of the doctoral program from 2006 to 2007 and associate dean from 2007 to 2012. Subsequently, she moved into her current role in 2012, serving as a professor at Sam Houston State University, where she also previously acted as director of the School of Nursing from 2012 to 2016.
During her tenure at Sam Houston State University, Dr. Stiles earned over $2 million in grants, including nearly $150,000 in grants for simulator education. In addition, she increased enrollment in the School of Nursing and obtained accreditation by the Credentialing Commission for Nursing Education. Due to her exemplary contributions to the university, Sam Houston State University inducted her into their honor society. In addition, Texas Woman’s University honored her with the Research Enhancement Award in 2003 and 2004.
Dr. Stiles has notably held a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Ohio State University since 1971, Master of Science in Nursing from Oral Roberts University since 1986, and Doctor of Philosophy from Texas Woman’s University since 1990. She further completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Arizona, where she was a postdoctoral fellow from 1992 to 1994. In light of her accomplishments, Dr. Stiles was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Nursing, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who of American Women.
