Prior to this prominent role, she was a registered and surgical nurse at Ben Taub General Hospital in Houston, TX, from 1982 to 1986. She specializes in medical claims and billing specialist studies.
To prepare for her illustrious career, Ms. Taylor pursued formal education at Tyler Junior College, where she earned an Associate of Arts in 1975. She subsequently attended Texas Woman’s University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 1982. After obtaining some hands-on experience in the field, she became a licensed chemical dependency counselor in 1992, specializing in 12-step recovery with cocaine and alcohol addictions and group counseling sessions.
A member of Alpha Delta Sigma, Ms. Taylor had an affinity for helping people from a young age, having had the opportunity to take care of an older gentleman who had a stroke and was unable to feed himself. Upon helping the man take care of his basic needs, Ms. Taylor realized that helping other people was her calling. As a testament to her professional success, Ms. Taylor was inducted in Who’s Who of American Women in 1987 and 1988. Looking toward the future, she intends to spend more quality time with her niece.
