Inspired by her father to go into the medical profession from watching the empathetic way he treated his patients, Ms. Harding-Omar focuses on improving the quality of life and recovery of elderly patients after surgery, and in end-of-life care. Furthermore, she is an honorary clinical professor at different universities across the United States and coaches and judges robotics competitions in the state of Maryland. Since 2007, she has worked as a DNP at Montgomery Medical Associates. She has also provided her services at Johns Hopkins, Holy Cross Hospital and the Washington Advance Hospital.
With the encouragement of her father, Ms. Harding-Omar earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s College and a master’s degree from Simmons College. She received designation as a nurse practitioner and also an ANCC from the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals. In her line of work, she contributes to professional journals. Ms. Harding-Omar is passionate about inspiring women in the STEM field, acting as an ambassador and volunteering with local schools. In the next five years, she will continue what she’s doing. She would also love to teach nursing in the future and hopes in the next five years she will be able to transition part-time. She would love to teach the next generation about nursing and how to care for those in a medical profession.
